I always have something Brazilian in the rotation but lately it’s been Jorge Ben again. Love, love, love. A couple years ago while working at the HotHouse I had the honor to work the night he played there. Before that night I had heard a little bit here and there but wasn’t all that familiar with his music. Since then I’ve been hooked. That show was one of the most amazing shows I ever saw. The energy, the music, the people coming up to me at the bar with this look of ‘holy crap I can’t believe I’m actually here’. I still remember the face of one guy just dripping with sweat after the show saying to me ‘You don’t even understand how amazing it is to see him here’.

Anyway..

Live at Massey Hall 1971- Neil Young

I’ve always loved Neil Young. My dad had the Harvest record when I was a kid and we listened to it a lot in the car. I got this one a couple weeks ago and every time I listen to it I am just amazed by how the strong the songs are even with minimal instrumentation.

India – Gal Costa

This one isn’t so new but I’ve been listening to it a lot lately. It always seems to migrate into the rotation once the weather gets nice a summery. We have a bunch of her records and this one is my favorite.
